Betting Hockey, NHL

Hockey Betting usually functions with the standard Spread, Moneyline, and Total Points bets.

Spread:
A spread bet in hockey is picking a team to win by a certain number of goals. Usually the spread will be 1.5 - 2.5. Picking a team to win by a spread of 1.5 means the team must win by 2 (as you can’t score half-goals)
ex:
spread for hockey betting
In this example, the spread on the Pittsburgh Penguins is +1.5 . This means the Penguins are the underdog, and not expected to win. A +1.5 spreads means the Penguins are being giving a 1.5 goal lead to begin the game. If the final score of the game was 5-4 for the Flyers, you would still win a bet on the Penguins (as according to your wager, to score would actually be 5-5.5)
On the other hand, the spread for the Philadelphia Flyers is -1.5. This means the Flyers are favoured to win the game. A -1.5 spread means they Flyers must win by more than 1.5 (so 2 goals) in order for the bet to be a winner. If the final score was 6-4, you would win your bet. Click Here To Bet Hockey Now

Moneyline
A moneyline bet is simply stating which team will win.
spread hockey
In this example, the moneyline shows the odds. The odds for the Pittsburgh Penguins to win the game is 2.220. As long as the Penguins win the game, you will be paid out. (Note: Make sure the wager you are placing is for either “Regulation time” or “Full time including OT”… the outcome of your bet depends on which you choose).

Total Points
Total points is betting OVER or UNDER the number listed.
spread hockey for total points
In this example, the Total Points for the Penguins VS Flyers game is OVER 5.5 (odds 1.749) or UNDER 5.5 (odds 2.160). If you pick OVER 5.5, the combined score of both teams would have to be at least six to win your wager (Flyers 4 Penguins 2 would win your bet). If you picked UNDER 5.5, the combined score needs to be under 5.5 (Flyers 4, Penguins 1 would win your bet)
