Betting on sports is very simple, and can be a lot of fun. With sports betting you can pick bet on almost anything you’d like. You can pick a team to win, a team to win by a certain number of points, final combined score to be odd/even or over/under a specific number, the possibilities are basically endless. It is also very possible to win a lot of money betting on sports, if you pick the winners!

Where To Place Bets
Before beginning your sports betting career, check into the legality of it in your region. You can bet anywhere that takes sports wagers. In the US, Casinos (Vegas) offer sports betting. In Canada you can play Proline (a government regulated sports betting service). But of course your easiest option is to bet online.

What is a “Spread”?
The point spread on a game is a setting a number of points a team must win (or a number a team is allowed to lose) by in order to win your bet.

An example of a pointspread would be this:

  • Seattle –4
  • Arizona +4

If you bet the -4 for Seattle, they must win by more than 4 points for you to win your bet. If you bet on +4 for Arizona, they may lose by 3 points or less, or win outright for you to win your bet. If the +/- 4 adjustment results in a tie, the wager is push and you will get your money back. Games featuring ½ point spreads will never push, and therefore there will always be a winner or a loser in this bet. A standard term used in pointspread betting is “covering the spread”. If Seattle “Covers the spread” you win your bet. Covering the spread simply means winning by more than the spread number.
